Are we anti-American?
By no means. We are neither for, nor against any state or country. We don’t represent any national interest either. We only insist on the basic liberties and human rights of our formerly free and democratic societies.
What does “Akkurater Widerstand” mean?
“Widerstand” is the German word for resistance. “Akkurat” sounds like “accurate”, but implies a kind of vintage meaning. Let’s just say it’s another awkward German word like “Fahrvergnügen”.
Is this legal?
For sure! We’re ordinary people, not hackers. We aren’t nerds or geeks, but an online citizens’ initiative. We do nothing other than produce simple data. An example: we all enter “Edward Snowden” as a new contact into our smartphones or tablets. Surveillance administrators will take notice. In this way, we’re sending our “accurate regards” to NSA & Colleagues.
Are we technophobic?
Not at all. New Technologies are offering fascinating options – from making our daily lives more comfortable to solving genuine challenges. We just don’t want to pay for it by giving up our privacy.
Why social media?
Our campaign needs to be as visible as possible to data collectors, companies and intelligence agencies. Therefore, we want to spread across channels and platforms like Facebook, Twitter, etc. To ensure your data privacy, we have set up “Shariff” buttons that prevent automated tracking.
